30 Year Reunion!

Say that slowly, 30 years... so how long do the 1,2,3,4 or 5 (6?) years you spent in high school seem now?

Well since you (we) aren't getting any younger and 'senior moments' are coming more frequently, you probably can't answer the question. To rectify the situation you need to attend the 30 Year Reunion of the class of 1981 of Salida High School and have people help you remember the good ol' days, and create some new memories.

The fun begins on the evening of, Thursday, June 30 and runs through the evening, Saturday, July 2.
For those of you that are undecided, here's the question...If not this Reunion, then, which one?

An Open Letter to the SHS Class of 1981.

The 30 Year Reunion is upon us! And some things come to mind as the date approaches and we are in various states of:

readiness - I'm going, I'm not going, maybe, oh hell, I don't know, why would I?
excitement - I can't wait to see X, I hope I don't see X, X better talk to me, X better NOT talk to me!
anxiety - will I remember everyone? will anyone remember me? do I want to remember?
dread - will I fit into my clothes? should I wear my letter jacket? will anyone notice I have the same hair cut as 30 years ago?
health - I've lost parts, I've added parts, I need parts, I'm hanging on and thank goodness I can still complain
relationships - some of us never married, some of us are still married, some of us took a try or two (or three) to get it right, and some of us are still working it

Does that about cover it? We've probably forgotten something, but the answers to these and most questions are: does it matter? Really? Don't you agree that you, or we, will probably never be absolutley ready for these things, so why wait? And as the clock is ticking, its probably the last, great reunion, (most of us will be on oxygen or a walker for the next one.) The hope is that you'll come. For any and all the above reasons.

As we were planning this reunion, our idea was that this is a reunion of the people that were in our lives during our time in Salida, in toto, not just the time spent in the halls of Salida High. We all have memories of each other at some point of our time in Salida, not necessarily high school, but could be an elementary school, JR High, some party, or a job we worked together on that one summer. The 30th is just that point in time that we designate to relive and celebrate those times together. And being from Salida is special. As weird as some of it was, most people can't really relate or can compare to that time there. You had to be there! And you were! Thus, the Reunion is open to any and all that wish to attend, no matter how long your stay in Salida, you are a part of someone's memories and life experiences. And those classmates that are no longer with us, but with your help, they will be that weekend, and beyond.

The events are scheduled such that you can do as much or as little as you want and still be able to meet up with those that are important to you. There are three nights and the day, Saturday, so something should fit your schedule or desire to attend. You then still have two days left of the July 4th weekend to hang out with classmates, family, special events, and for some, to recover...so come!

We are looking for classmates! So send us names of people you'd like to see attend, but haven't heard from, don't know where they are, etc., and as a group we'll see what we can do. This list will include people that did, or, woulda, shoulda, coulda graduated with us.
We also need to pay our respects to those classmates that are no longer with us, so please send in those names as well.
